OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gordie Meyers, Brown QB (So., 6-0, 175) Miami, Fla.
Meyers set the Brown record for total offense in a game with 413 yards against Lehigh. The Miami, Fla. native rushed for 151 yards on 18 carries, including a long run of 59. The sophomore also passed for 262 yards, completing 10 of his 31 attempts on the day. He was responsible for four Bear touchdowns against Lehigh. Meyers passed for three scores of 17, 46 and 38 yards and rushed 10 yards for one.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jim Magallanes, Pennsylvania SS (Sr., 6-0, 199) Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Magallanes was instrumental in the Quakers' win over Buknell. He had five solo tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup. The first pickoff came on Bucknell's second play from scrimmage, and Magallanes returned the ball 10 yards to set up the Pennsylvania's opening score. His second interception came in the fourth quarter and led to a Quaker score three plays later, givvimg Penn a 23-point lead (35-12).
