Ivy League Honors Andre

Senior Intercepts Two, Returns One for TD

Senior cornerback Chris Andre was named the Ivy League's defensive player of the week for his role in Harvard's near upset of defending Ancient Eight champion Dartmouth this weekend in Hanover, N.H.

Although the Crimson fell short and ended up losing 39-34 to the Big Green, Andre was instrumental in providing Harvard with the 17-point lead that it had in the middle of the third quarter.

The senior made 13 tackles in the game and broke up five of Dartmouth quarterback Jay Fiedler's passes as well. More importantly, Andre snagged two interceptions and ran one back 52 yards for a touchdown to end the first half.

Senior placekicker Mark Hall was also honored by the league this week. Hall made the conference's honor roll for his two field goals against Dartmouth. His first of the day traveled 51 yards and tied a Crimson record for the longest field goal in Harvard history.

Against the Odds

Once Harvard broke the 30-point barrier in Saturday's game in Hanover, the Crimson was no longer statistically the underdog of the game.

In Harvard school history, the Crimson has compiled a 216-2-1 record when the team scored 30 points or more. The loss, then, was only the second ever.

Going into the game, all the odds seemed to be in the Big Green's favor, but with Fiedler on the field, anything can happen.

Harvard plays at Brown next week, and with the loss to Dartmouth the rest of the games in Coach Joe Restic's season are for pride, since there is no possible way the Crimson can capture even a share of the Ancient Eight crown.
