W. Ruggers

Sports Wrap

Saturday wasn't exactly what the Radcliffe rugby club had in mind for a home opener.

The Black and White fell, 10-4, to Princeton in a rainy match at Soldiers Field.

"We played really good rugby," Co-Captain Eunjie Kahn said. "The score is not indicative of how we played the game."

The Tigers held Radcliffe (1-3) scoreless in the first half, taking a 4-0 lead into halftime. But Radcliffe turned the tables on the Tigers early in the second half--scoring a try after a Radcliffe kick-off.

"We came on strong for about five minutes and scared them into bobbling the ball," Kahn said.

Senior Andrea Eror capitalized on Princeton's ball-handling problems to knot the score, 4-4, but the Tigers went on to score twice more in the second half and capture the contest.

In its season-opening matches the previous weekend, the Black and White finished fifth--losing two of three matches--in the Ivy League Tournament, hosted by Penn in Philadelphia.

Radcliffe travels to Providence for the New England Championships at Brown Saturday and Sunday.
