The Harvard men's golf team finished fifth in the two-day, threeround Ivy League Tournament, held over the weekend at Bethpage Country Club in Bethpage, N.Y.
Trailing by seven strokes to Yale after two rounds of action on Saturday, Princeton rallied to edge the Elis and finish first with 960 points. Yale finished three points behind, and Columbia--which also led the Tigers coming into yesterday's action--finished third with 970 points.
Harvard (1014 points) finished 10 points behind fourth-place Dartmouth (1004), with Brown (1054), Cornell (1058) and Penn (1103) rounding out the field.
"We were hoping to jump into fourth and knock out Dartmouth," Harvard Captain Terry Murray said. "Dartmouth beat us a week ago, but we were only one shot back after two days."
Princeton's Jason Mraz captured individual honors with a three-day total of 229 (79-76-74), and his 74-stroke round yesterday was the best outing of the weekend.
Murray led the five-man Crimson contingent with scores of 80, 79 and 78 for a 237 total, followed by Mike Foster (78-81-85--244), Ross Cockerall (263), Robert Kincaid (269) and Dave Miller (271).
