The Harvard women's tennis team split two matches over the weekend, defeating Virginia, 6-3, but falling to William and Mary, 5-4.

The Virginia match, originally scheduled for Saturday, was postponed a day because of the snowstorm.

"We were happy with our victory against Virginia," Jacki Farrell said. "But we weren't as happy about yesterday's match. We played our hardest. Unfortunately, it didn't turn our way."

The Crimson will participate in the Intercollegiate Team Conference Association tournament in Wisconsin this weekend. Harvard's first-round match is against eight-ranked Kentucky.

After the tournament, the Crimson will spend spring break in California, where it will continue to play the top teams in the nation.

"I think today's match pumped us up even more," Farrell said. "We're psyched to play at the team tournament."

In the William and Mary match, the Crimson got wins from Christina Dragomirescu and Farrell in singles action. Harvard picked up two more wins in doubles action, capturing first and third doubles. Henikoff and Amy deLone won at third doubles, while freshman Jennifer Minkus and Farrell pulled out the other Crimson victories.

"It was an amazing team weekend even though we lost," Dragomirescu said. "We fought to the last point. We played good tennis and we lost."

"I would definitely say that it was a disappointing loss," Henikoff said. "But things are starting to look good for us. We're looking forward to playing some really good teams this weekend."
