W. Squash Ices Polar Bears, 8-1

Next victim, please.

Sorry, you'll have to wait.

In its last match until next January 30, the Harvard women's squash team cruised to an 8-1 destruction of Bowdoin yesterday in Brunswick, Maine.

"Bowdoin's one of the weaker teams we play, so it wasn't the most challenging match, but it's good for us early in the season," said Co-Captain Stephanie Clark, who cruised to a straight-set victory at third singles.

Against the weaker Polar Bears, the Crimson (2-0 overall) was able to give JV players a chance to earn varsity letters. Paula Rand, Kathy Shergalis and Lesley Chang--who suffered Harvard's only setback--all moved up to the big-time.

Bowdoin did put up a surprising fight in the first singles position, as Erika Gustaffson extended Harvard Co-Captain Jennifer Holleran to five sets. However, Holleran prevailed, 15-12, in the final set.

So Harvard will remain undefeated for at least another month. But in 1990, the Crimson will have to put is record on the line.
