Following the Money: President Derek C. Bok knows where to go to find his big financial backers. He held his annual dinner for $10,000-plus contributors yesterday at the Harvard Club of New York, where fundraisers say more than 40 percent of the University's donations originate.

True Harvard Spirit: After hosting the yearly dinner with Bok at the New York Harvard Club, the University is providing its top donors with a chartered bus to take them to New Haven for The Game. And Harvard fundraising officers hope the Crimson will pull off a win this year because, as Vice President for Alumni Affairs and Development Fred L. Glimp '50 said recently, "Everybody likes working with a winner."

--The text of a fake draft notice sent by Harvard's Committee on Central America (COCA) to some 900 male undergraduates this week. According to a statement by the committee, the false induction orders "were intended to raise consciousness and foster debate" about U.S. involvement in that country.
"I don't know if they're trying to play with people's minds, but I think this was very irresponsible."
--Jeremy B. Dann '92, who received a false draft notice this week.
"At a time of crisis in El Salvador, we felt this was the best way to make it perfectly clear that the situation affects all of us, especially males who may be drafted into military service."

"If there could be a constructive debate, if people are prepared to look at the substance of the issue and not act like '60s radicals, then maybe it's a good idea to open up the issue again."
--Joel D. Hornstein '92, the Undergraduate Council member who introduced last spring's resolution to bring the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) back on campus, on the possibility of reopening council debate on the issue at this Sunday's meeting.

--Gov. Michael S. Dukakis, as he signed the Gay Civil Rights Bill into law Wednesday, making Massachusetts the second state in the nation--after Wisconsin--to enact such legislation.

--State Sen. Michael J. Barrett '70 (D-Cambridge), who co-sponsored the gay rights bill with Rep. Mark Roosevelt (D-Boston).
