In other NCAA first-round lacrosse action on Wednesday, fifth-seeded Loyola (Md.) trounced 12th-seeded Air Force, 19-8. Sixth-seeded Massachusetts lost to 11th-seeded Cornell, 13-11. Tenth-seeded Virginia edged out seventh-seeded Yale, 10-9, in double overtime.
Loyola was the only home team to win a first-round game.
The tournament continues Sunday for quarterfinal action on campus sites. Top-ranked Syracuse (12-0) will host Navy (8-4) at the Carrier Dome. Johns Hopkins (9-1), the number-two seed, will host Virginia (8-4). Number-three North Carolina (9-2) takes on Cornell (7-5) at Chapel Hill, NC. Loyola (12-1) travels to Philadelphia to face fourth-seeded Penn (10-3).
