In some cases, they play as many games as the varsity. But all their goals, their points, their baskets seldom get recognized. To correct this imbalance of fame between varsities and junior varsities, The Crimson offers its first JV Notebook.

Women's Tennis

The women's JV team improved to 10-4 with a 9-0 thrashing of Yale Saturday at Beren Tennis Courts.

Leading the way in singles for the Crimson was Martha Berkman, who trounced Jennifer Browning, 6-1, 6-0, while Nicole Rival recorded a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Karen Samon at number-two singles.

Louise Zonis continued the rout with a 6-4, 6-0 blasting of Jamison Williams at number-three, while Paula Guerin was involved in a tough three-setter at fourth singles.

After dropping the first set, 6-4, Guerin rallied to win the final two sets and match, 6-4, 6-3.

At number-five singles, Beth Riley wasted little time in destroying Lisa Reson, 6-0, 6-2. Lisa Cutone also recorded a straight-set victory, 6-1, 6-2, over Diane Lazarus at sixth singles.

In number-seven singles, Eva Jackson defeated Maria Grossman, 6-4, 6-1. Meanwhile, Sharon Kosakowski knocked off Susan Yelton, 6-3, 6-2.

Doubles

In doubles action, Berkman and Rival outlasted Browning and Samon in the first set, 7-6, and cruised to a 6-2 victory in the second set.

Zonis and Riley disposed of Talbott and Reson in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, while Cutone and Kosakowoski crushed Williams and Grossman, 6-1, 6-3.

At number-four doubles, Jackson and Guerin teamed up to capture a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over their opponents.

"We've had a good season," said JV Coach Mark Wesselink, whose team has won 29 of its last 30 individual matches. "We're looking to finish strong against Dartmouth. We're expecting a good match."

Baseball

The JV baseball team dropped a double-header to Rhode Island Community College over the weekend, and saw its record fall to 0-4.
