Penn, Princeton Win; Navy Sinks Bulldogs

PRINCETON, N.J.--Quarterback Jason Garrett ran six yards for a touchdown with three minutes to play on Saturday as Princeton edged Brown, 31-27.

Princeton (2-1 overall, 2-0 Ivy League) drove 64 yards in eight plays for the game-winning score after Brown had taken a 27-25 lead on a 22-yard field goal by Stephan Lins.

Brown's (0-2-1 overall, 0-1-1 Ivy) last gasp was extinguished when Danny Clark's pass was intercepted by Frank Leal with 1:30 left in the game.

Clark threw for two touchdowns and Nick Badalato ran 24 yards for another score as the Bruins took a 24-18 halftime lead.

Judd Garrett's scoring run gave the Tigers a 25-24 lead early in the third period.

Lehigh 27 Cornell 14

BETHLEHEM, PA--Lehigh quarterback Mark McGowan ran for a 67-yard touchdown and threw two fourth-quarter scoring passes to lift Lehigh past Cornell, 27-14, Saturday.

McGowan's 67-yard scramble gave Lehigh a 13-7 lead in the third quarter. Cornell went ahead, 14-13, on a 1-yard run by Scott Malaga with 13:26 left.

In the final period, McGowan connected with Erick Torain on a 5-yard touchdown pass and then with John Gorman on a 62-yard scoring pass.

Malaga led all rushers with 138 yards on 33 carries. McGowan ran for 115 yards and connected on 18 of 30 passes for 258 yards. Lehigh fullback Rich Curtis ran for 68 yards and led receivers with five receptions for 35 yards.

Dartmouth 24 Davidson 3

DAVIDSON, N.C.--Dartmouth broke open a tie game with 21 fourth-quarter points to beat Davidson, 24-3.

Quarterback Mark Johnson threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Craig Morton with 12:39 remaining in the contest to break a 3-3 deadlock. An interception by Scott Sims set up a 29-yard scoring drive, capped by Chris Pollard's 2-yard run with 3:59 left.

Penn 24 Columbia 10

PHILADELPHIA--Junior running back Bryan Keys ran for 141 yards on 26 carries, leading Pennsylvania past Columbia, 24-10, extending the Lions' record losing streak to 44 games.

Penn beat Columbia for the seventh consecutive time.

For a change, Columbia was in the game. With 10:28 remaining and trailing, 24-10, the Lions had first-and-goal at the 2, but Solomon Johnson fumbled and Mike Begg recovered.

Keys scored Penn's first touchdown, giving him six this season, and ran for more than 100 yards for the third straight game.

Columbia fumbled the opening kickoff and gave Penn the ball on the 11. Keys scored three plays later on a 2-yard run. Columbia drove 60 yards to tie it on Greg Abbruzzese's 14-yard run.

The Quakers then went 66 yards in 10 plays to take the lead for good when Jim Beato scored on a 1-yard run.

Navy 41 Yale 7

ANNAPOLIS, MD.--Sophomore quarterback Gary McIntosh ran 51 and 45 yards for touchdowns yesterday to spark Navy to a 41-7 rout over winless Yale.

The loss drops Yale to 0-2-1 (0-0-1 Ivy) on the season. After tying Yale, 24-24, in the season-opener, the Elis have been outscored 82-7 in the last two weeks.

Ted Fundoukos kicked field goals of 26 and 38 yards in the game, the first between Navy and Yale since 1981. Yale leads the series, 5-4-1.

Yale's Kevin Callahan capped an 86-yard scoring drive with a 2-yard touchdown dive with 7:53 remaining in the first half for the Elis' only score of the game.

McIntosh, who had 99 of his 103 yards rushing in the first half, swept left on Navy's sixth play of the second quarter and bolted 45 yards for his first touchdown to make it 17-0.
