HOLLIS at Hilles

MAIL:

To the Editors of The Crimson:

Thank you for the mention in your article concerning automated circulation in the Harvard libraries ("Libraries Install New Computerized System," October 12, 1988). Unfortunately, some confusion has arisen as to how far along the Hilles Library will be in this project by next fall. Our goal is to begin the barcoding of books in the spring of 1989, with the entire circulation system made operational by the fall of 1990.

The staff at Hilles looks forward to the internal advantages of an automated circulation system, as delineated in your piece, but we are most excited about it being yet another tool that enhances the library's usefulness to the pedagogic process. Joseph Farara   Reserves and Circulation Librarian
