Hollywood will come to Harvard tomorrow, as film director Peter Yates previews his new film "Suspect" at the Carpenter Center.

A four-time Academy Award nominee. Yates will be the first of a series of movie directors who will attend Harvard screenings under the sponsorship of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals.

Following the showing of "Suspect." which stars Dennis Quaid and Cher, Yates will discuss the making of his 18th film and answer questions. The picture is scheduled for release by Tri-Star pictures at the end of this month.

Although the Pudding also sponsored a series of visiting film directors last year, this year's series marks the first time that the Theatricals has sponsored movie previews, said series coordinator Joshua B. Goldstine '90.

Last year, the Pudding invited prominent directors to screen some of their older films. Goldstine said he changed the format so directors could discuss their current work.

"I hope this will provide [Harvard students] with a behind-the-scenes look [at modern films]," said Andrea L. Campbell '88, Theatricals producer. Campbell also said that the the Pudding developed the directors series to recognize directors' contributions to the film industry.

"The director is the last credit that you see on a film. It is truly his or her film," said Goldstine.

The Pudding already honors actors with its Man and Woman of the Year Awards.

Goldstine said he hopes to hold monthly screenings and is in contact with several major studios. But Goldstine said he has not been able to set a firm schedule yet.

James Bridges, Michael Richie '68, Leonard Nimoy, John Hughes, Oliver Stone, and Philipp Kauffman are some of the directors who may come to Harvard later this year, Goldstine said.
