To the Editors of The Crimson:
I would like to correct the inaccurate and misleading information that appeared in the January 16th story "Plan to Restore Yard Pump Progresses." The page one story said that Radcliffe President Matina S. Horner "forgot to check with the Cambridge Historical Commission" before presenting Harvard President Derek Bok with a plan to restore the pump as a 350th birthday gift to the college. In fact, Radcliffe officials have been in continuous contact with the Cambridge Historical Commision since last August when a preliminary design was presented to members during an informal meeting. Questions that arose during that meeting prompted the designers to refine the design prior to submitting a formal plan to members in November. At that meeting, commission members did not reject the plan but suggested minor modifications. These were made, and the plan was resubmitted and approved in December. Aida K.
