After the first round of action at the 13-team New England Regional Championships yesterday, the Harvard men's golf team found itself in a disappointing 10th place, 20 shots behind first-place Hartford.
"We hope we're going to move up tomorrow," said Captain Ian Bickley. "It wasn't a very good performance today."
Bickley lead all Crimson golfers yesterday by shooting an 82, good enough to place him in the top-third of all competitors at the tournament. Terry Murray, a close second to Bickley, shot an 83, while John Pickett had an 84 and Mike McGowan finished at 86.
Tom Aucamp, Harvard's fifth entrant in the tournament. But the penalty will not apply to today's action. The team's top 4 scores from each round are totaled to determine the tournament's winner.
