Sailors Place Eighth at Admiral's Cup

The Harvard varsity sailing team recorded 465 points and an eighth-place finish at the Admirals Cup at King's Point, N.Y. this weekend.

In the A divison, Harvard's Gordon Burnes and Petra Schumann teamed for 161 points and a 10th place finish.

In the B divison, Harvard's John Pernick and Beth Pryor tallied 157 points, and finished in seventh.

In the C laser divison, Harvard's Peter Wagner racked up 147 points to round out the scoring for the Crimson.

The women's sailing team turned in a mediocore performance this weekend, placing sixth in the Powder Puff Trophy in Rhode Island.

The Crimson's 69 total points placed it behind Tufts (37), Brown (40), Dartmouth (53), Yale (64), and Boston University (66).

In the A divison, Harvard's Jane Fogg and Dana Barron tallied 24 points for a third place finish.

In the B divison, Harvard's Brig Gulya and Deborah Dubin finished seventh with 45 points.

The freshman sailing team racked up 68 points, and placed fifth in the Gibb Trophy on the Charles River.

The Crimson's 68 points placed it behind B.U. (52), Connecticut (54), Boston College (55), and Brown (60).

In the A divison, Harvard's Paul O'Connor and Liz Seaton tallied 21 points for first place.

O'Connor led the way with a first place finish in the second race of the day. O'Connor also came in second place in races four and six.

In the B divison, Harvard's Jim Rothwell and Katrina Yamin finished in 10th place with 47 points.

JV at MIT

At MIT, the Harvard JV sailing team breezed to a second place finish in the Oberg Trophy.

B.U. won the outing with 72 total points, 17 less than the Crimson's total.

In the A divison, Harvard's Alex Sutton and Charlenne Li racked up 14 points for a first place finish.

In the B divison, Harvard's George Eberstadt and Jessica Rutmann tallied 45 points and finished in fifth.

In the C divison, Harvard's Dan Elbaum and Scott Nathan racked up 30 points, good enough for fourth place.

Elbaum also captured a first place in the fourth race.
