Women's Fencing
The Harvard women's fencing team squeezed by Wellesley, 9-7, Saturday afternoon at Wellesley.
The Crimson trailed early, 3-6, but was able to take six out of the last seven matches.
"It was a close meet at first," Giulia Cichetti, the team captain, said. "But we were able to do well once we got our momentum going."
Harvard was led by Penelope Papilias, who won all four of her bouts. The freshman sensation also placed sixth in a field of over 100 in the presitgious Junior Olympics tournament held in St. Paul, Minnesota on Sunday.
Anita Hawkins also fenced well for the Crimson, winning three of her four bouts.
Cicchetti split her bouts, winning one contest and dropping one.
The team faces Rhode Island college in an away meet tonight.
Wrestling
Harvard's wrestling team watched it's Ivy record drop to 1-3, as host Columbia grabbed a 24-10 victory on Saturday.
Pete Holmes, at 158 lbs., tied his Lion counterpart at 1-1, as did 126-lb. Scott Beck. Jeff Clark grappled his way to a 6-0 win in the 134-lb. division.
