RADCLIFFE RUGBY
A late goal-line stand by the Radcliffe rugby club preserved a 4-0 shutout over Boston College Saturday at BC in front of more than 50 drenched fans.
Radcliffe stopped the last-minute Eagle rally with a 10-minute defensive stand within 15 yards of the try-zone.
"It wasn't an easy victory," said Club President Heather Flewelling, whose team is now 2-3.
The Black and White scored the only try of the contest midway through the first half. From the 30-yard line, Gillian Caldwell passed the ball to Becky Gradolph, who cut past several defenders and burst into the open. She was tackled just as she reached the try-line, but dove in and slammed the ball down for the score.
EQUESTRIAN
The Harvard equestrian team co-hosted its first show ever with Boston University Saturday in Ipswich. Thirteen Harvard riders competed against 12 other schools in a field of 178 riders.
The Crimson was led by Kim Smith, who placed third in Intermediate Equitation over fences and sixth in Intermediate Equitation on the flat.
