The Harvard golf team wrapped up its season pleasantly yesterday, nabbing a 404-424 victory ever Dartmouth at the Country Club in Brookline.
"We certainly weren't expecting to come away victorious." Co-Captain Chet Nastala said. "It's nice to close out with a nice win," he added happily.
The squad from Dartmouth left a drizzly Hanove, earlier in the day expecting a rain-out. After the Crimson got through with it, the Big Green must have wished that the match had been rained out.
Leading Harvard in the upset were Nastala and freshman Tom Aucamp, both low scorers at 79.
Also helping the Crimson attack were Rob Hooper, who shot an 80 and Mike McGowan and Co-Captain Jim Fearon at 81.
House Softball
In a tight contest yesterday Leverett defeated Winthrop, 4-3, a claim the intramural softball crown.
Winthrap held a 3-1 lead entering the final frame, but Leverett refence to yield. With two down, Clippers knocked a double to send the game into extra innings.
Leverett clinched the victory in the next at-bat, K.C. Smith punched one-out single through a drawn in Winthrop infield, scoring Leon Oldenburg.
Hurler Russ Riopelle notched the victory for Leverett.
Players of the Work
NEW YORK--Dave Parker of the Cincinnati Reds was named National League Player of the Week. The American League honor went to Cal Ripken of the Baltimore Orioles.
