Stanford Zaps Netwomen

Top-ranked Stanford demolished Harvard's Eastern champion women's tennis team Thursday, 9-0, at the NCAA tournament in Oklahoma City.

Elizabeth Evans, a four-year Crimson standout and Harvard's number one player this year, did not make the trip, due to an overload of work. As a result, everyone else in the lineup moved up a notch for the NCAAs.

The Crimson, which finished atop the Ivy League and the East Coast, wound up with a 15-4 slate (12-0 in the East, 6-0 in the Ivies).

Harvard had sizzled to a seven-match win streak before heading West.

In fact, the Crimson's four losses all came at the hands of California teams--including an 8-1 spring break trouncing by the Cardinal.
