Bruins Club Inconsistent Golfers

The Harvard men's golf team's mediocre performance against Colgate and Brown yesterday at the Dedham Country Club epitomizes the Crimson's rocky season.

The Bruins handily defeated the Crimson by over twenty points, compiling an impressively low 384.

With their 408 shot total, the Harvard golfers eked out a six-point victory over Colgate.

The Crimson low scorers of the match were Co-Captain Jim Fearon and senior Rob Harper--who both shot an 80--and freshman Pat Kenary, who tallied 81.

The Crimson's season has been plagued by severe bouts with inconsistency, and its uneven play has resulted in what Coach John Thompson labels "a very average season."

"Our seniors really haven't played well for us." Coach Thompson said "Golf is unique in that it's very hard to be consistent one match to the next."

One Harvard golfer, Pat Kenary, has repeatedly turned in strong performances. The freshman came in ninth at the NCAA Division I qualifiers held recently in Patowomat, RI.
