Nazarene Tops Spikers; Fans Help Visiting Team

Eastern Nazarene came to the Indoor Athletic Building expecting an easy victory over the injury-plagued Harvard women's volleyball team.

Eastern Nazarene came away with the victory, but it wasn't all that easy.

The first match went just as Eastern Nazarene expected. The visitors easily topped the Crimson 15-8.

The battle began with the second match. Both teams played well, but Harvard eventually succumbed, 15-11.

The third match was very similar to the second. Each team played well at times, and each time one squad took a lead, the other rallied to tie.

The Crimson was able to put together some of its most consistent team play of the year and surged to victory, 15-13.

In the fourth game, the visitors stormed back and claimed the match, 15-11.

No Problem

With injured starters Suzie Tapson and Pascale Jean-Louis on the sidelines, Harvard had to rely on the play of its bench. The reserves provided the spark to give the hosts the third game and a close overall match against one of the East's most powerful squads.

Eastern Nazarene brought an enormous contingent of fans that drowned out the Harvard rooters. The Nazarene vocal cheering section made the scene in the half-renovated IAB particularly eerie.
