To the Editors of the Crimson:
I enjoyed and appreciated Mr. Kladko's article in Saturday's Crimson (12/8/84) concerning disabled students in the College. I think, however, that the officers of the Glee Club were hurt by the article and I would like to set the record straight.
It is true that the Glee Club planned initially to have their annual party in the Junior Common Room of Lowell House. That room is not accessible to a student in a wheel chair. Clearly the officers of the Glee Club did not, in there inexperience, appreciate how strongly a student so confined detested being carried into a party.
I did meet with the student concerned and the officers of the Club. The meeting was highly successful in exhanging views and gaining mutual understanding. It was, a matter of education, not of ill will. As soon as the officers came to understand how the student felt, the party was moved to accessible quarters.
I wish all such situations had such happy endings. Thomas E. Crooks
