After convincingly winning its first two games of the season, the Harvard women's field hockey team got a dose of its own medicine yesterday in Durham, N.H.

A host University of New Hampshire squad completely shut down the visiting stick women, and stcamrolled to an impressive 3-0 win.

"They played well," Harvard Coach Edie Mabrey said of the Wildcats, and added about her own team, "we didn't play very well."

The loss drops the Crimson's record to 2-1.

The Wildcats controlled the game in the first half, jumping out to a quick lead. Though the Crimson played better in the second stanaza, UNH's first half prowess proved too much for Harvard to overcome.

The stickwomen had trouble adjusting to the field at Durham, Mabrey said. While the Crimson is used to playing on a smooth, slow field, the pitch at UNH is "fast and bumpy," the Harvard coach said.

"We weren't stopping the bouncy balls," she added.
