Pennsylvania 55, Dartmouth 24

Ivy Roundup

HANOVER, N.H.--Not since the Yale team of 1884 had a visiting squad so handily defeated Dartmouth.

But a century after the Elis' 113-0 win in Hanover, a visiting Pennsylvania Saturday showed no mercy, demolishing the Big Green, 55-24.

The convincing win on the road by the two-time defending Ivy League champion Quakers only reinforced the notion that Penn is the early favorite to wrest its third staright league crown.

Just how good the Quakers really are is difficult to led, however, because few people reall, know how bad Dartmouth is.

After the Big Green hosts took a 17-14 lead midway through the second period, Penn exploded for 34 straight points in the middle two quarters.

In that stretch, Quaker quarterback John McGeehan tossed two touchdown passes. Rich Comizio scampered 37 yards for a score and Tom Murphy added field goals of 31 and 36 yards.

Comizo, the Quaker sophomore tailback, keyed the Pennsylvania onslaught with 105 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown.
