The Harvard Black Law Students Association (BLSA) last week endorsed Democratic hopeful Rev. Jesse L. Jackson for President and plans to help the campaigning effort for the March 13 Massachusetts primary.

Jackson's is "the only campaign that has clearly taken in the interests of the disenfranchised," said BLSA President Tony C. Thompson yesterday.

Thompson commented that he feels Jackson, like unsuccessful Boston mayoral candidate Melvin H. King, has a strong community base but has been attacked by the press.

To broaden this popular support, Jackson's so-called Rainbow Coalition must ally with the mostly white-supported peace movement. Thompson said, and, in line with that objective, BLSA staged a peace vigil at last night's Democratic dinner at the Statehouse.

Even if Jackson fails in the '84 campaign, Thompson said that the presence of a Black candidate brings "a broader set of issues" into the race.
