At the conclusion of the Eastern Women's Swimming League competition Saturday at Brown, Harvard held on to finish in eighth place out of 23 squads with 195 points.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the eighth-seeded Crimson combo of Susan Harris, senior Co-Captain Debbie Zimic, Tracy Black and Co-Captain Jeannie Floyd took sixth. In three-meter diving, Harvard's Jennifer Goldberg got second and Shannon Byrd snagged fourth. Byrd, who finished first in the one-meter, was named Eastern Outstanding Diver for accumulating the most points in diving competition.

Penn State's Mary Ellen Clark finished first in three-meter diving, matching many of her teammates' performances, as the Nittany Lions came from 40 points behind Brown at the conclusion of Friday's competition to finish 35 points ahead of the Bruins.

Princeton took third in the Easterns, followed by B.U., West Virginia, Yale and Penn. The Quakers beat Harvard by nine points.
