Mark Moseley booted a 37-yd. field goal late in the fourth period to give Washington a 29-27 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals and the National Football Conference East title, while the Pittsburgh Steelers captured the AFC Central crown on the final Sunday of the regular season by defeating the Los Angeles Raiders 13-7.

Washington's victory, assured only when St. Louis' Neil O'Donoghue missed a 50-yd. field goal attempt as time ran out, eliminated the Cardinals from the National Football League playoffs and kept alive the hopes of the New York Giants.

Tonight's regular-season finale, with the Dallas Cowboys at the Miami Dolphins, will determine the final post season matchups.

A Miami victory would give the Giants a berth, while a Dallas win would send the Cowboys into the playoffs. The game also will determine the sites of next weekend's NFC wild-card game and the following weekend's AFC semifinals.

In the Redskins' victory, Washington receiver Art Monk caught 11 passes to break Charlie Hennigan's 20-year-old NFL record of 101 receptions in a season. Monk finished with 106 catches.

The Cardinals were led by quarterback Neil Lomax, who completed 37 of 46 passes for 468 yards and two touchdowns, both to Roy Green. Trailing 23-7 at the half. St. Lours rallied to take a 27-26 lead before Moseley's kick gave Washington the victory.
