Although the final score may not show it, the Harvard women's swimming team achieved a victory of sorts against Penn State yesterday at Blodgett Pool.
Never mind that the Nittany Lions outscored the Crimson, 84-56 Mind instead the fact that Harvard gave one of its best and most consistent efforts of the season against the defending Eastern champions.
"I'm very pleased, and the girls are pleased," said Coach Maura Costin. "The score is not indicative of how we were swimming."
Although the visitors dominated the scoreboard from the opening event a 7-0 sweep of the 200-yard medley relay, the Crimson registered several excellent individual performances.
The Crimson continued to excel in the diving events, as senior Jennifer Goldberg won the one-meter and finished third in the three-meter event.
