A mislighted fire last night filled Leverett House B with smoke and sent residents scurrying into McKinlock courtyard at 3:0 a.m.

Residents of Leverett B-42, trying to burn a wet log in their fireplace without a grill or screen, sent smoke into the hallway that set off all the fire alarms in the entry, Harvard Police said yesterday.

Police reported no major damage and said they are unable to take disciplinary action.

Currier Fire

An electrical fire in the heating system of Currier House last Tuesday night was extinguished by Harvard Police and the Cambridge Fire Department before it could set off any alarms.

House officials said the fire was out within five minutes and has not interfered with Currier's heating.

Jewel Theft

Over $1000 worth of jewelry was reported stolen last Tuesday from a room in Kirkland House J. Cambridge Police said.

The theft victim returned to her room to find pearl necklace and several gold bracelets missing, and a floor plan of Dunster House left behind on the floor, police said. No suspect has yet been found.

Vandalm

At 4:45 last Sunday morning, Harvard Police noticed that the "H" flag that usually flies over University Hall was missing. No theft suspects sure found in the area and police said the flag has still not been recovered.

Also last Sunday morning, according to police, unknown vandals broke through the doors to the Adams House pool gaining entrance but causing so further damage.

Thefts and Arrests

Cambridge Police including a Wallet, $50 cash and a $300 Stanford class ring. Two of the items were taken from unlocked lockers.

A total of 31 thefts were reported by Cambridge Police from September 27 through October 5.
