The veil of secrecy traditionally surrounding, Commencement Day's Honorary Degree recipients has been partially lifted by a Boston Herald report announcing that Katherine Graham, chairman of the Board of Directors and executive officer of The Washington Post, will receive an honorary.

Graham will apparently accept the Honorary Degree at Commencement on June 9. Graham refused to confirm her nomination this week--only saying that she had no plans to give any lectures during her visit.

The names of roughly 10 other degree recipients, selected by a committee of 11 Harvard professors and alumni, will not be formally announced until Commencement Day.

According to the Herald article, King Juan Carlos of Spain recently turned down Harvard's offer of a degree. Lewis Abierta, Chancellor to the Spanish Consulate, last week refused to provide any reasons for the refusal.

Last year's degree recipients included the late Tennessee Williams and Mother Teresa.
