Distressed perhaps by the lackluster performance of several Big Red teams this year, officials at the Athletic and Admissions Departments at Cornell University announced earlier this month that they will work more closely to attract the best student-athletes.
James J. Scannell, Cornell's dean of admissions and financial and, said the university would implement a "formal communications network" to facilitate more discussion between the athletic department and admissions offices in each of Cornell's seven undergraduate colleges.
Scannell stressed that the new plan does not violate National Collegiate Athletic Association recruitment rules and does not alter the admissions process at Cornell. Cornell Daily Sun
