A decision on the Undergraduate Council's recent proposal to sponsor a simulated session of the Administrative Board has been put on hold pending discussions later this month regarding the proper format for such an event.

The Ad Board last week agreed with the council's desire to increase general student awareness of the disciplinary body's procedures and purpose, members of the board said But because there was some disagreement about how to achieve that goal the Board postponed a decision on the matter, appointing a small group of members to iron out an agreeable format with council delegates.

"We've done various things of this sort in the past, and some have worked better than others" said Christopher M. Jedrey, senior tutor at Lowell House and one of the Board members slated to meet with council members later this month to discuss the mock session.

Several officials have expressed concern that a condensed version of an Ad Board meeting might cast the Board's function out of context, primarily because of the difficulty of approximating how the Board actually handles the thousands of disciplinary and academic cases processed each year.

"It's awfully hard to do it in a way that's not misleading," Jedrey said.

The special council committee on the Ad Board had intended to hold the mock session next week. But now the group will reschedule the event for after spring break, council delegate Eliot T. KIeval '84 said this week, explaining that the council committee will not be able to meet with Ad Board officials until after the planned March 16 date.

Kieval added, however, that the council members are continuing to prepare an information booklet on the Ad Borad--complete with questions and answers for the mock sessions--to distribute to interested students and potential audience members.
