Tront Named Academic All-American
Cambridge, MASS.--Harvard center Monroe Trout has been named honorable mention Academic All-American for Division I Basketball, as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The 6-ft., 9-in junior was the only Division I representative from New England on either the first, second or honorable mention teams. He is the second member of the Harvard varsity to receive the honor, as junior Joe Carrabino was named honorable mention last year.
Trout is currently Harvard's third leading scorer, averaging 10.6 points per game, and the team's leading rebounder with 6.1 grabs per outing. The New Canaan, Conn. native set a single-season record last year, shooting 65.9 percent from the field. This year, he leads the team again in that department, converting 58.1 percent of his field goal tries. He is also the team leader in blocked shots with 18.
Trout is an economics major, holding a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
