A little-known Core Curriculum regulation could affect hundreds of undergraduates, but College officials are concerned that not enough know about it.

The regulation states that certain departmental science courses can fulfill the Core requirement in either Science A or B for students concentrating in the humanities or social sciences. Science concentrators are generally exempted from Core science requirements.

Although this change appeared for the first time this year in the handbook of student regulation, it has not been widely publicized among undergraduates. But Edward T. Wilcox, director of the Core program, said the regulation was discussed at yesterday's Administrative Board meeting.

Roy G. Gordon '61, Cabot Professor of Chemistry and a member of the Core science committee, said yesterday, "I'm sorry if the lack of publicity was an oversight that disturbed people's planning."
