University Coordinator of Financial Aid Richard W. Black resigned last week to become director of financial aid at the University of California at Berkeley.
During his four years at Harvard, Black acted as the University's Malson to government on questions of financial aid.
Black, who assumed his new position last Monday, said he will be in charge of remaining Berkeley's centralized financial aid office, which co-ordinates aid for all the school's undergraduates and graduates students.
Black said the offer came unusually suddenly when the former director of financial aid at Berkeley became ill.
Even though Berkeley is a store school with more opinion available for work/study jobs and grant monies as well as a lower tuition, Black said he will have to deal with many of the same problems as Harvard concerning the availability of funds.
"We have a common cause with schools in the East," Black said, adding that he will certainly use the knowledge he gained at Harvard in his new position.
