Recently released University Police statistics show that between July 1 and February 12 there have been no homocides, no rapes, one sexual assault, 17 assaults, seven robberies, 304 thefts of more than $100, 34 breaking and enterings and 88 bike thefts reported on Harvard property.
In addition, police estimated the value of property stolen from March 3 to March 9 at $19,192, including three automobile stereos taken from cars in Harvard parking lots.
The following reports of crimes were taken from notes in the University Police log last week.
March 3, 11:35 a.m. A 50-year-old male with long gray hair grabbed a female undergraduate by the waist on the first floor of the Carpenter Center. The student broke away and escaped unharmed.
A search of the area turned up no suspects, and no arrests have been made.
March 4, 6:30 a.m. A janitor at the Cronkhite Graduate Center let in two men who said they were looking for a friend. The janitor later noticed two grandfather clocks and a large Oriental rug missing from the common room.
The two clocks, valued at $10,500, were recovered by the University Police Wednesday. The $5000 rug is still missing.
March 8, 1:45 p.m. Harvard policemen stopped three youths at Children's Hospital after they were seen running down Blackfan St. with goods allegedly stolen from a local market. The property was returned to Christy's Market, and the youths were turned over to the custody of their parents.
