Abdul-Jabbar Signs
INGLEWOOD. Calif--The Los Angeles Lakers signed veteran center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the second-leading scorer in National Basketball Association history, to a multi year contract and acquired a backup for him in a trade yesterday.

The Lakers traded guards Norm Nixon and Eddie Jordon to the San Diego Clippers in exchange for center Swen Nater and the rights to unsigned guard Byron Scott.
