Saint Anselm isn't your run of the mill 0 10 team. It's worse
So when the Harvard men's basketball team needed a study break last night, the Division II Hawks obliged, rolling over and playing dead as the cagers chalked up their fourth straight victory, 75 67, before an estimated 200 diehards at Briggs Athletic Center
The score is misleading the game wasn't that close. Crimson Coach Frank McLaughlin in halt ended and Harvard built a 68-16 advantage before allowing the Hawks to make the score look respectable
Patience
We could have won by 35 of 40 points, McLaughlin said after the game
But the easy victors didn't please the Crimson mentor "I don't like running up the score on anybody, but you've got to execute," he said. "We didn't play well tonight I'm disappointed in the team
The cagers take a 7.5 record 11-1 in Ivy play into their league showdowns at Columbia and Cornell this weekend
Why did Harvard schedule a tough road trip the weekend before finals'
"That's the Ivy League schedule McLaughlin said, explaining that the Crimson could not arrange to take the pre-exam weekend off or even schedule its late Reading. Period contests at home every year
Harvard forward Ken Plutnicki, who tallied 14 points last night, doesn't expect the upcoming exams to play a role in this weekend's games
"When you step between those white lines, you have to be thinking about the game," Plutnicki said Saturday night. The finals won't make it as much of a tough trip as the trip will make it tough for the finals."
THE NOTEBOOK: Harvard's present four game will streak is its longest since the 1980-81 season when the cagers strung together eight victories.
