TUCSON, Ariz.--Following a series of suspicious fires and false alarms at the University of Arizona, a freshman who worked part time for campus police was arrested recently and charged with five counts of arson.
The student, Cynthia Louise Wong, aged 18, of Ann Arbor, Mich., was employed to check buildings after hours to make sure they were locked. The Chronicle of Higher Education reported recently.
The fires, which were allegedly set in several buildings, caused damage estimated at more than $160,000, a university spokesman said. The campus police turned the arson investigation over to the Tucson fire department.
