Rent Increase for Fuel Use Due Soon From City Board

The Cambridge Rent Control Board will mail notices of a general rent increase to the city's landlords in the next few weeks, but the effect of the hike on tenants' bills has not yet been determined. Executive Director Mimi Imparato said yesterday.

The rent board's computer has not completed calculating the specific increase designed to compensate landlords for increased heating costs in each building, Imparato said, adding that landlords must inform their tenants of the new rent levels within 30 days after receiving the notices.

In January 1981, the rent board approved a general rent increase for tax costs, Imparato increase for heating costs was made in August 1979.
