YESTERDAY'S RESULTS
NHL
Ray Bourque's goal from the top of the faceoff circle with five minutes remaining lifted Boston to a 3-3 National Hockey League tie with the Buffalo Sabres last night, and the Bruins retained second place in the Adams Division by a single point.
Bruce Crowder put Boston on top one minute into the game when he poked home a puck lost by Sabres' defenseman Richie Dunn.
Buffalo scored the next two goals, despite stiff forechecking by the Bruins that held the Sabres to just 15 shots the entire game.
Sabre Dale McCourt drilled a shot into the corner of the net behind Boston goalie Marco Baron two minutes after Crowder's goal, and Gil Perreault tipped in a pass from the boards by teammate Alan Haworth. Larry Playfair scored for Buffalo in the third period.
Steve Kasper also scored for Boston.
