Police Blotter

The latest University police statistics, released for the week ending January 23, show that since July 1, there have been no homicides, one rapt, no sexual assaults, 22 assaults, 10 robberies, 231 thefts of more than $100 in value, 15 breaking and entering and 127 bike thefts reported.

Police estimated the value of property stolen from February 3 to 11 at $4907.36, including a TV a camera lens from the Science Carter and one Adidas running shoe.

The following reports of crimes were taken from notes in the University police log last week:

February 5, 6:38 p.m.--A patron at the IAB reported his watch and wallet missing. An unknown person broke into his locker, stole his receipt and claimed the items from the desk.

February 6, 2:13 a.m.--A student was assaulted while returning to Wigglesworth Hall. The two friends and a pizza. Two man approached the group and asked for a slice of pizza. Before the student could reply, one of the man punched him in the nose. The man then fled down Flympton St.

The student was taken to University Health Services, and was four treated at Massachusetts Eye and Ear infirmary.

February 8, 10:26 a.m.--Sherman Miller, an inmate serving a life sentence of Bridgewater prison for sex offenses, escaped while waiting for treatment at the Dental School.

Escorted by two corrections officers, Miller used the presence of going to the bathroom to slip out of the building. The officers notifies University and Boston police, but a search of the area was unsuccessful.
