After rolling up a 26-point lead in the second quarter last night, the Boston Celtics held off a late rally by the Chicago Bulls to take a 106-97 victory and a 2-0 series lead over the Bulls in the National Basketball Association semifinals.
Robert Parish and Nate Archibald powered the Celtics to the victory, chipping in 27 points each.
The Celtics scored the first eight points and built a 42-16 lead during a ten-minute spurt in the second period, but the Bulls chipped away at the lead, cutting it to 53-38 at the half and 76-66 after three periods.
At one point during the fourth period the Bulls closed the gap to nine points, but the Celtics stretched it back on a jumper by Parish and two free throws by Archibald.
