Benigno A. Aquino Jr., Philippine opposition leader and fellow at the Center for International Affairs (CFIA), said in Tokyo last week he might return to the Philippines in June, despite the possibility of his arrest.
Aquino faces arrest if he returns to the Philippines, Filipino President Ferdinand E. Marcos warned Saturday, saying that Aquino faces charges implicating him in a series of summer bombings in Manila.
In Toyko to discuss the June presidential election in the Philippines with other Filipino leaders, Aquino has strongly opposed the Marcos' regime. In 1973, Marcos jailed Aquino shortly after cancelling a presidential election which Aquino was favored to win.
