HANOVER. N.H.--The outbreak of salmonella poisoning that struck Dartmouth University in January continues to plague the university.
Since January 26, 16 proven cases of salmonella--a bacterial disease most often caused by the consumption of tainted poultry and eggs--were discovered on campus.
The university called in an official of the epidemic intelligence service, a branch of the communicable center for disease control, to help in the investigation of the poisoning.
"It is hard to nail down where the problem lies." Dr. Raymond Jackson, director of the college health service, said last week.
