"We can be Chicans, professionals, mothers, all without stripping ourselves," Dr. Alicia V. Cuaron, co-chair of the National League of United Latin American Citizens and the first Chicana woman sponsored to speak at Radcliffe said last night at Agassiz House.
In a speech sponsored by the Harvard-Radcliffe Raza Chicana Women's Caucus, Radcliffe Union of Students, and the Radcliffe Associate Dean's Office, Cuaron told the group of more than 60 students, "You will be the Chicana pioneers in your own areas."
Cuaron called for all women, especially Chicanas, to venture into non-traditional areas of employment, those of greater responsibility and upward mobility.
President Matina S. Horner said last night after the speech that she expected that social consciousness during the Reagan administration will drop. "There are, however, too many trained, competent minorities to turn back now," Horner added.
