Medical School Okays Course On Atomic War

The curriculum committee of the Medical School yesterday formally approved the school's first course on the nature and effects of nuclear war.

The committee, as expected, okayed "The Health Aspects of Nuclear War" for next semester "without any discussion," Dr. Norman Geschwind, Putnam Professor of Neurology and chairman of the committee, said yesterday.

The course, one of the first of its kind in the country, will include lectures from experts around the city on the specific medical effects of nuclear war, the psychological stress caused by nuclear war, and the health problems of potential survivors.

"[The course] is run by a group of highly competent and well-informed people," Geschwind said, adding "I think it will be an excellent course."
