Daniel L. Campbell, superintendent of maintenance operators in the Department of Buildings and Grounds, died suddenly last Friday in his home of a heart attack. He was 54.
Campbell, a life-long area resident who was born in Cambridge, worked at the University for 35 years. He served on the board of directors of the Harvard University Credit Union and was treasurer of the Mutual Benefit Association of Harvard.
A funeral mass will be said today at St. Agnes' Church in Arlington. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
Campbell leaves his wife. Catherine (Saverse); four daughters. Kathryn Lesica of Franklin, Sharon Boyle of Bedford and Diane Campbell and Anne Ronaye, both of Arlington; a son, Daniel L. Campbell Jr. of Arlington; two sisters, Margaret Gibbs of Wareham and Pearl Venard of Lowell: two brothers, Joseph Campbell of California and Harold Campbell of Connecticut: and two grandchildren.

Mankiw Named Chair of Economics DepartmentEconomics professor N. Gregory Mankiw, head of the popular introductory course Economics 10: Principles of Economics and adviser to presidential candidate Mitt Romney, will take over as chair of the economics department starting on July 1.
