Freshman Soccer Blanks Exeter, 1-0

The Harvard freshman soccer team held on to a 1-0 lead to edge past a Phillips Exeter team which often threatened but never came through yesterday on a wind-and raid-lashed Business School field.

The win, coming on the heels of a 5-0 victory over MIT's freshmen team, boosted the Crimson's season record to 2-0.

The poor weather conditions may have accounted for the lackluster start for both teams. A gusty wind made ball control difficult as players often found shots boomeranging back to them.

But Harvard overcame its initial sluggishness and, despite the tight score, dominated most of the first half, keeping constant pressure on the Exeter goalie.

The only score of the game came 13 minutes into the first half when right wing Bill Beizer booted in a pass from center middlefielder Tarck Nazir.

Despite the win, Coach Doug Tashjian seemed disappointed by his team's performance. "We made things hard for ourselves."
