Bok Defers Meeting With Students on Proposed Center

President Bok postponed his meeting with representatives of Third World undergraduate and graduate organizations last Friday, saying he had yet to read their proposal for an on-campus Third World center, Dayna L. Cunningham '81 said yesterday.

The meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The proposal calls for a sizable building to be given to the groups--citing Harvard Hall, Massachusetts Hall, the Hasty Pudding Club, and the old Institute of Politics building on Mt. Auburn St. among possible locations--and seeks $45,000 in annual administrative costs, in addition to renovation expenses.

Cunningham said the students were not dismayed by the delay. "They've been totally reasonable with us so far," she said of the administration, adding, "If President Bok had read the proposal and wanted time to think about it, I assume he'd have told us."

Bok was unavailable for comment yesterday.
